Enhanced biofilm and extracellular matrix production by chronic carriage versus acute isolates of Salmonella Typhi

چکیده

Salmonella Typhi is the primary causative agent of typhoid fever; an acute systemic infection that leads to chronic carriage in 3–5% individuals. Chronic carriers are asymptomatic, difficult treat and serve as reservoirs for outbreaks. Understanding factors contribute key development novel therapies effectively resolve fever. Herein, although we observed no distinct clustering isolates via phylogenetic analysis, demonstrated were phenotypically from isolates. formed significantly thicker biofilms with greater biomass correlated higher relative levels extracellular DNA (eDNA) DNABII proteins than by Importantly, include integration host factor (IHF) histone-like protein (HU) critical structural integrity bacterial biofilms. In this study, biofilm a isolate vitro , was susceptible disruption specific antibody against proteins, successful first step therapeutic carriage.

Salmonella Extracellular Matrix Components Influence Biofilm Formation and Gallbladder Colonization.

Salmonella enterica serovar Typhi, the causative agent of typhoid fever in humans, forms biofilms encapsulated by an extracellular matrix (ECM). Biofilms facilitate colonization and persistent infection in gallbladders of humans and mouse models of chronic carriage. Individual roles of matrix components have not been completely elucidated in vitro or in vivo To examine individual functions, str...

Elastin increases biofilm and extracellular matrix production of Aspergillus fumigatus.

Aspergillus fumigatus is an opportunistic saprobe fungus that accounts for 90% of cases of pulmonary aspergillosis in immunosuppressed patients and is known for its angiotropism. When it reaches the respiratory tract, A. fumigatus interacts with structural components and blood vessels of the lungs, such as elastin. To understand the effect of this structural component, we examined the effect of...

Biofilm Producing Salmonella Typhi: Chronic Colonization and Development of Gallbladder Cancer

Salmonella enterica subspecies enterica serovar Typhi is the aetiological agent of typhoid or enteric fever. In a subset of individuals, S. Typhi colonizes the gallbladder causing an asymptomatic chronic infection. Nonetheless, these asymptomatic carriers provide a reservoir for further spreading of the disease. Epidemiological studies performed in regions where S. Typhi is endemic, revealed th...

MOLECULAR CHARACTERIZATION AND OPTIMIZATION OF VI-CAPSULAR POLYSACCHARIDE OF SALMONELLA TYPHI TY6S PRODUCTION IN BIOREACTOR

The role of Vi-capsular polysaccharide (Vi-CPS) in human immunity against infection caused by Salmonella typhi is well known. The downstream process of purification generally causes depolymerization of Vi-CPS to a nonimmunogenic low molecular weight form. In the present study, a standard strain of Sal. typhi Ty6s was grown under submerge cultural conditions in a pilot-plant scale of 90 Liter fe...
